I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about a book written in second-person POV. It’s not something you see every day, and honestly, I didn’t know if it could work. But Michael J. Seidlinger absolutely nailed it. Anybody Home takes you on a dark, twisted journey straight into the mind of a home invader. That perspective? It’s unique—at least to me—and I loved how it made the story feel so personal and unsettling.
The intensity is off the charts, and the narrator’s sinister sense of humor adds this edgy, almost uncomfortable charm to the whole experience. It keeps you on edge while pulling you deeper into the chaos. But here’s the thing: the situation is impossible. It’s one of those scenarios that you know can’t end well, and I’m just not a fan of that.
Still, there’s a deeper message buried in all the madness—something about how we’re all part of this “cult,” whether as voyeurs or participants. It’s haunting and thought-provoking.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely, if you don’t mind a predictable but heartbreaking outcome. This book will mess with your head and leave your heart in pieces, and somehow, that’s its twisted charm.
